CONCERT DESCRIPTION
AWESOME IS THIS PLACE is a celebration of the work of Guillaume DuFay - considered the leading European composer by his 15th-century contemporaries. Many of his texts have a strong sense of place - like a beloved home, a garden, or a cathedral. We also appreciate that we was one of the few composers of the time to set multiple poetic texts from the female perspective.
Alkemie collaborates once again with early music luminary Shira Kammen.
Dufay was one of the first composers we explored - we're excited to take a fresh look at his work with Shira Kammen - the woman who inspired us to form Alkemie!
ALKEMIE
Tracy Cowart (voice, harps, percussion), Ben Matus (voice, medieval bagpipes), David McCormick (vielle), Elena Mullins Bailey (voice, harp, percussion), Niccolo Seligmann (vielles, scheitholt, gittern), and Sian Ricketts (voice, recorders, douçaines)
